Access Control

Groups

Groups are the most efficient way to manage access control. Rather than worrying too much about configuring permissions on a user-by-user basis (though this is supported too) simply by putting staff into

A user will inherit the permissions from every group they are a member of, in addition to the permissions that are set on their user profile.

Everyone Group

When you create a new user, they are automatically added to the Everyone group. This group has a very basic set of permissions in AffinityLive. You can adjust the permissions available to this group, but remember that these changes will affect all users.

More Groups

Create a "Sales" group for your sales staff, a "Projects" group for your project staff, and then decide what permissions these users ought to have by default - such as deleting records, administration and configuration, exporting data and so on.

Figuring out which users should have access to what can be a real headache. To start you off, we have created an "Everyone" group with some basic permissions. If this isn't enough, try adding your users into the "Advanced" Group, or creating your own groups and then customising the access/permissions for that group.
